travelling with my Moleskin sketchbook 2012

In Acciarole in the south of Italy sitting by a table sipping on my caffe latte and enjoying my gelato I wrote a new chapter in my novel, sometimes thinking about Mr Hemingway who visited this place as well maybe to be inspired to write "The Old Man and the Sea" .
So did I write about the magic of the sea, the mountains and the evershining sun?
No of course not. I wrote about my young heroine Laura sneaking into the black forest guided by yhe moonlight and the glowworms to find a snake sleeping under the branches of the old firs.

Beware you´ll find it everywhere
the unexpected beauty of an forgotten work of art.

När jag målar grönt,
så är det inte gräs
när jag målar blått,
så är det inte himmel.

Henri Matisse

Men det här är inte en Matisse,
det är en Nordin

 When I put green,
it is not grass
when I put blue,
it is not the sky.

Henri Matisse

But this is not Matisse,
this is Nordin.

I am reading Cornelia Funke " Inkheart " and I love it.

"If you take a book with you on a journey" Mo had said when he put the first ones in her box, "an odd thing happens: The book begins collecting your memories. And forever after you have only to open that book to be back where you first read it. It will all come into your mind with the very first words: the sights you saw in that place, what it smelled like, the ice cream you ate while you were reading it...yes, books are like flypaper -- memories cling to the printed page better than anything else."

Magiska texter, magical reading

"The moon shone in the rocking horse’s eye,
and in the mouse’s eye too,
when Tolly fetched it out from under his pillow to see.
The clock went tick-tock, and in the stillness he thought he heard
little bare feet running across the floor,
then laughter and whispering,
and a sound like the pages of a big book being turned over."
—L. M. Boston, The Children of Green Knowe

This text is magical because it animates the rocking horse, and suggest that something wonderful is happening right there.

Jabberwocky

En slidig ödling borvlad
I bryningen på solvis ples
Och lumpingen var brynklig och
den villa gnutten fnes.

Jabberwocky ur Alice i Spegellandet
Översättning av Gösta Knutsson

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

lost item, found item, memento mori

Men inte just idag.

This package is probably not lost. It is thrown away.

Still, it is clear who is the sender.

Still, it is clear what are the consequences.

As white as snow, frost has dressed the whole package of airy white crystals.

White as the color of death. It is seductively beautiful as all the old vanitaspaintings that hangs in the National Museum,

Remember: You will also die.
Memento mori "Remember your mortality",

But not right now.
